In August of 2006, a pregnant Claudia, her husband and their two young children were on their way to a midwife's home in Indio. But Claudia Posey was further along than she thought. She made her husband pull over and flag down help from the Engine 57 Crew.

Claudia has since written a poem for her heroes that day. Click Here

Always Remember Never Forget the brave individuals who gave their lives to save others. These five from Engine 57 were dedicated to the passion and commitment they had for firefighting. Forever they will be remembered for their heroic actions everyday they served and the day they made the highest sacrifice on October 26th, 2006.

The five Forest Service firefighters were on Engine 57 on the San Jacinto Ranger District when they were dispatched early Thursday morning to assist on a state managed wildfire, the Esperanza Incident. They were engaged in structure protection and firefighting activities when they were overrun by flames.

In our deepest thoughts, are Forest Service firefighters Mark Loutzenhiser, Jess McLean, Jason McKay, and Daniel Hoover-Najera who all tragically lost their lives in the line of duty and Firefighter Pablo Cerda who passed on October 31st due to his injuries.
